Leslie's E-Column

"Living from the Inside Out" is an invitation to let your life speak.

So often, we hear a cacophony of voices clamoring for our attention: advertisers wanting our money, groups wanting allegiance and conformity, religions demanding obedience, politicians and pundits wanting us to blindly follow the party line, co-workers wanting promises of alliance. TVs, DVDs, VHS, MP3s, cell phones, the internet all serve to numb us to that interior voice that tells us what truths and values we embody.

When we make space in our lives for reflection, a voice emerges that is our own. This voice grounds us in turbulent times. It illuminates our potential and reminds us of our limits. It serves as compass that points us towards our own sense of vision and values.

When we begin to live from the inside out, we find ourselves able to manage our personal reactivity. We make deeper connections without losing ourselves. Mutuality and collaboration replace passive compliance. Mindful dissent replaces aggressive defiance. We awaken to our gifts and find communion with others. We walk more gently in the world often making more significant impact.

Mindfully "Living from the Inside Out" invites us to live more consciously in our families, in our work, in our communities and in our world.
